Metropolitan Planning Organization for the La Crosse, Wisconsin and La Crescent, Minnesota Area
Bicycle/Pedestrian Advisory Committee
The Bicycle/Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) advises the LAPC on a wide range of bicycle and pedestrian programs and issues
The committee works with state and local government agencies to ensure that the needs of bicyclists and pedestrians are being met.
"To actively encourage human-powered transportation for the purpose of promoting the health, safety, welfare and economic stability of the Coulee Region and to become a nationally known human-powered transportation hub."
The BPAC meets monthly and is focused on examining bicycle and pedestrian issues in the La Crosse Area. The committee has been active in improving bicycle and pedestrian facilities by helping to obtain funding for a number of projects and has contributed to safety education in the area through programs such as bike rodeos and bicycle helmet giveaways.
The BPAC helps prepare and implement the LAPC's Metropolitan Transportation Plan and examines future transportation projects to integrate bicycle and pedestrian facilities whenever possible. BPAC goals include the improvement of bike paths and trails throughout the region, increasing the number of bicycle and pedestrian commuters, and promoting bicycling and walking.
The Bicycle Commuting Resource Page has more information for bicycle commuters.
